Mooie Boules: a playground for grown-ups
Nine locations · Entertainment venue
A trend that's quietly arrived in the Netherlands: playing games in a bar or restaurant. More and more guests are looking for something beyond a drink, a table and a good chat, looking for challenge and entertainment in the form of all kinds of games. Where the local pub once kept a deck of cards behind the bar, you now increasingly find venues with a full cabinet of them. The pinnacle of that trend is Mooie Boules. Across nine locations (including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Haarlem, Eindhoven and Delft), it invites the Homo Ludens, Latin for the playing human, to spend the evening at play.

“Through Butlaroo, we can offer all our guests a customized package, thereby catering to every possible desire without administrative challenges.”

The cornerstone at all nine locations is Jeu de Boules. The game, traditionally seen as something French retirees play in sleepy villages, has been completely reworked and made trendy. Big advantages: anyone can play, it takes very little setup, and it works perfectly alongside eating and drinking through the game.
Mooie Boules also runs an extensive menu, especially notable for its huge selection of craft beers. Each location features multiple kitchens (including Ron Blaauw's gastrobar), serving a wide range of high-quality street food.
With its mix of activities alongside food and drink, Mooie Boules is also a popular spot for company outings and bachelor or bachelorette parties. Anyssa: "We're practically full every evening, and on weekends even until 2 AM."
Always at hand, never in the way
Anyssa, manager at Mooie Boules Rotterdam: "Our way of operating here is unthinkable without Butlaroo. We want guests to be able to do anything from the moment they walk in."
"For groups we often have specific packages. We give them a mobile QR code loaded with exactly the menu, package and conditions that apply to them."
